There is much currently being written and discussed about Carbon Emissions, Global Warming, Transport Congestion, Fuels Costs, and Greenhouse Gas effects. This is not the forum for detailed discussions; however, we are pleased to provide the following snippets:

A Segway PT is a 21st century, single person, short-haul personal transporter.
If your personal or business needs are to transport a single person (and small payload) over modest distances, a Segway PT is a candidate.
Most Segway PT products weigh about 50Kg.
Thus passenger + machine total mass is likely to be in the 100 – 150 Kg. range. Any way you analyse this, this will be more energy efficient than a total mass of several hundred Kg. (motorcycle, buggy etc.) let alone 1,000 Kg. or more (ATV , car etc.).
Segway PT products use highly efficient brushless DC motors.
These robust, modern motors are extremely efficient. The inbuilt computer governors ensure optimum performance under all conditions, and they also re-generate power under braking.
A Segway PT is all-electric.
Thus there are no local emissions, it is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Of course generating power still requires energy (traditional grid, wind or solar), but these may be from the most efficient, large format generators, or from your own local supply.
